Resources
When we lost Nicholas, we spent months searching for resources to help navigate our oldest son, as well as ourselves and our family through such a loss.
Resources came from every direction - the funeral home, Cincinnati Children’s, Fernside Center for Grieving Children, the leadership of the daycare where our son was attending, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. On social media there was a wide array of support via online bereavement support groups, websites and organizations, and bereavement memes. Other common (or not so common) suggestions included meditation, music, journaling, therapy, psychic mediums, and “signs” such as ladybugs, songbirds and cardinals, and unexplainable experiences.
Once it became clear that we had the opportunity to give back and help other families by offering tangible gifts to the hospital - we were off, and we’ve never looked back.
One of our goals is to compile various grief resources into one easy to find place. Grief is hard. Grief is different for everyone, and is experienced at different times. The mental load is exhausting, and it’s heavy to carry. Let us take an extra burden away from you. Take a look around at the resources that we’ve already compiled. Take what speaks to you, leave what doesn’t.
